Meetings of Central Banks and Monetary Authorities

SESRIC convenes the Governors of the concerned financial institutions operating in OIC Member Countries for the purpose of sharing experiences on financial policies and central banking in order to catch up with the world’s agenda and follow up global trends and developments as well as to improve and enhance the level of cooperation and coordination among the Central Banks of the OIC Member Countries.

The Meeting was initiated when the world economy was still suffering the negative impacts of the global financial crisis which manifested in continuous slowdown of economic growth and high unemployment rates in many countries around the world. The Meeting worked out for the institutionalization of this SESRIC initiative,  supporting the efforts of the OIC Member Countries to mitigate the negative impacts of global financial crises and shocks on their economies.

The Meeting of the Central Banks and Monetary Authorities held on 3 October 2009 in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey, adopted the Final Communiqué in which the Governors of the Central Banks and the Heads of Delegations decided to convene the Meeting of the Central Banks and Monetary Authorities of the OIC Member Countries on an annual basis.

The Meeting of the Central Banks and Monetary Authorities of the OIC Member Countries 2011
Date : 14-16 November 2011 Venue : Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

The Meeting of the Central Banks and Monetary Authorities of the OIC Member Countries- 2011 has been organized by SESRIC, in collaboration with the Central Bank of Malaysia (Bank Negara Malaysia) and held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 16th November 2011 under the theme “Central Banking and Financial Sector Development”.

Business Seminar on Islamic Finance
Date : 28-29 September 2011 Venue : Istanbul Türkiye

Bank Negara Malaysia, in support of the Malaysia International Islamic Financial Centre (MIFC) initiative, organized a Seminar on Islamic Finance on 28-29 September 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey. The Seminar was well attended by over 180 delegates, comprising senior business and financial leaders from Turkey and Malaysia. Interests were also shown from financial and business delegates from the Asian, European and Middle East regions. The Centre was represented by Mr. Nadi Serhan Aydın, Researcher at the Centre.

Seminar on Managing Liquidity in the Islamic Financial Services Industry

The Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) organised a seminar on Managing Liquidity in the Islamic Financial Services Industry. It was held on 6-7 April 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey. The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) hosted the event. The Centre was represented at the seminar by Mr. Nadi Serhan Aydin, Researcher at the Centre.
