SESRIC organized a study visit on “Skill Development for Youth Employment” (SDYE) in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), the Ministry of National Education (MoNE), Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MoLSS) of the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Employment Organisation (İŞKUR) on 11-13 January 2012, in Ankara, Turkey. The study visit was attended by delegations of OIC Member Countries, namely Cameroon, Egypt, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Palestine, Senegal, Tunisia and Turkey and also by representatives of the Al – Fakhoora Programme, a programme of poverty reduction developed by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Workshop on Innovative Social Assistance Strategies in Poverty Alleviation

The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) organised the Second Meeting of the Monitoring and Advisory Committee (MAC) of the Vocational Education and Training Programme for OIC Member Countries (OIC-VET) in Antalya, Republic of Turkey, on 11-12 May 2010, on the sideline of the 26th Meeting of the Follow-up Committee of the COMCEC. The main purpose of the Meeting, which was chaired by Mr. Mehmet Fatih Serenli; Director of Training and Technical Cooperation Department at SESRIC, was to review the implementation process of the OIC-VET Programme since the First Meeting of the MAC. The Meeting was attended by the delegations of the National Focal Points (NFPs) of the OIC Member States, namely Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Indonesia, Iran, Morocco, Qatar, Senegal, Turkey and Yemen. The SESRIC together with the Turkish Asian Centre for Strategic Studies (TASAM) co-organized the “Congress of Vocational and Technical Education in Islamic Countries” which took place on 18-20 June 2009 in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey. The congress was held with the high-level participation of the Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Education from OIC Member States, Director Generals of TVET Institutions, specialised NGOs in the field and academics from various universities. for more details

1st Meeting of the Monitoring and Advisory Committee (MAC) of the Vocational Education and Training Programme for OIC Member Countries (OIC-VET)

The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) organised the First Meeting of the Monitoring and Advisory Committee (MAC) of the Vocational Education and Training Programme for OIC Member Countries (OIC-VET) in Izmir, Republic of Turkey on 13 May 2009 on the sideline of the 25th Meeting of the Follow-up Committee of the COMCEC. Chaired by Mr. Mehmet Fatih Serenli, Director of Training and Technical Cooperation Department at SESRIC, The main purpose of the Meeting was to discuss, among others, the operational aspects of the OIC-VET Programme and the preparation for the pilot application which was scheduled to start in the Fall 2009. The Meeting was attended by the delegations from National Focal Points of the OIC Member States, namely Bahrain, Brunei Darussalam, Gabon, Pakistan, Qatar, Senegal, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey. Operational Meeting among OIC Institutions

The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) has organised an operational meeting with the concerned OIC institutions in the area of vocational education and training. The meeting was held 4 April 2009 in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to discuss the monitoring and operational aspects of the implementation of the Vocational Education and Training Programme for the OIC Member Countries (OIC-VET). Representatives from the General Secretariat of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, COMCEC Coordination Office, Islamic Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and Islamic University of Technology (IUT) attended to the meeting. for more details
