First OIC RMNCH Network Expert Meeting

SESRIC and UNFPA  jointly organized the First Expert Meeting of the OIC Network on Population and Reproductive, Maternal, New-born and Child Health (OIC RMNCH Network) which took place at SESRIC Headquarter in Ankara, Turkey, on 2-4 December 2015.

The Network Meeting took place in line with the decision of the Fourth Session of the Islamic Conference of Health Ministers, which called for “the establishment of an OIC network of experts and institutions to conduct research, establish knowledge assets and share experiences and good practices in the area of health including reproductive health, maternal, new-born and child health.” The Expert Meeting will be a first step in establishing the OIC RMNCH Network, which will serve as repository of innovative ideas, problem solving and best practices and a platform for diffusing knowledge to OIC countries.

The Expert Meeting started with a partnership agreement ceremony at the first day of the meeting and continue with introductory session and round table discussions on population dynamics and demographic dividend and maternal and new-born health at the second day. The network’s future work and opportunities for enhancing collaboration among the members discussed at the last day of the meeting.
