Training Course on 'Module 2: Population and Housing Censuses' in Somalia

In accordance with its 2015 Annual Work Plan, SESRIC organised the training course on ‘Module 2: Population and Housing Censuses; Registers of Population; Dwellings and Buildings’ at the Directorate of Statistics under the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation of Somalia (STATSOM) on 20-25 December 2015, within the framework of the Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme. The course was conducted by Mr. Abdellaziz Ben Hadj Abdullatif, Expert at African Development Bank (ADB) with participation of relevant officials.

The training course has been requested by the STATSOM with an aim to providing technical guidance and encouragement for participants to undertake self-sustaining strategy and programs to strengthen their civil registration and vital statistics systems, with an emphasis on national efforts and genuine commitment to long-term reform. In this regard, the first phase of the training course on 'Population and Housing Censuses' in Somalia was successfully conducted on 8 - 13 November 2015. For more information please visit: Link
