Training Course on ‘Labour Statistics’ in Brunei

In accordance with its 2016 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC has organised the Training Course on ‘Labour Statistics’ at Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE) of Brunei Darussalam on 6-8 September 2016.

The Training Course was conducted by Ms. Wachyu Winarsih, Head of Labour Statistics Subdirectorate of BPS-Statistics of Republic of Indonesia with the participation of 30 relevant officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the JPKE.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); labour statistics – covered statistics on labour force, labour market, employment and unemployment; the more detailed topics include economically active population, labour conditions, health and safety at work (accidents at work, occupational injuries and diseases, work-related health problems), working time and other working conditions, strikes and lockouts, job vacancies, job creation.

The Training Course on ‘Labour Statistics’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

  • Work and Forms of Work Framework
  • Classification of the Working Age Population
  • Employment and Unemployment
  • Potential Labour Force
  • Labour under Utilization
  • Informality
  • Key Indicators Labour Market
  • Decent Work Indicators
