SESRIC launched a short film on Syria
Date: 27 January 2017
Venue: Istanbul - Türkiye

The short film called “Matrix and Milieu” was launched by SESRIC on the sideline of the training course on “NGO Management”, which was organised within the framework of the OIC NGO Capacity Building Programme (OIC NGO-CaB) in Istanbul, Turkey on 27 January 2017. As a product of three months of rigorous work, the film, which was directed by Mr. Enes Ateş, aimed to increase the awareness towards the Syrian refugees who put their lives in danger for crossing the Mediterranean Sea in hope of reaching Europe.

Stuck between the brutal facts of war and the difficulties of having to carry out the burden of life so far from their homes, many refugees fall into despondency that they choose to risk their lives by attempting to cross the Mediterranean to reach Europe, where they hope to find a chance to build themselves a better future. It is known that in search of such a dream, the majority of refugees are either capsized before reaching the mainland or find themselves having to endure a harsh treatment at the borders of Europe.

In this regard, “Matrix and Milieu” has not only achieved critical acclaim as an intellectual and artistic piece of work, but also succeeded in reflecting to the audience a sense of how it would feel to be a Syrian refugee waiting for a boat to deliver him from all the suffering brought by the war.
