Training Course on ‘Gender Statistics’ in Benin

In accordance with its 2017 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Training Course on ‘Gender Statistics’ at National Institute of Statistics and Economic Analysis (INSAE) of Republic of Benin on 18 – 20 July 2017.

The Training Course was conducted by Ms. Akoisso Doria DEZA, Expert from National Institute of Statistics (INS) of Cote d'Ivoire, with the participation of 18 officials of the INS.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Gender and special population groups – includes the topics on living conditions and role in the society: comparisons men/women and situation of special population groups like children, youth, women, elderly, disabled, minority groups etc.

The Training Course on ‘Gender Statistics’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

  • Gender concept approach
  • Gender in the statistical production
  • Gender Indicators
  • Process of gender integration in the collection and analysis of statistical data
  • Initiation of SIG tool for gender advocacy
  • Identification of problems related to gender and recommendations
