Training Course on ‘Social Protection Statistics’ in Cote d'Ivoire

In accordance with its 2017 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Training Course on ‘Social Protection Statistics’ at National Institute of Statistics (INS) of Cote d'Ivoire on 25 – 27 July 2017.

The Training Course was conducted by Ms. Nadia Touihri sp CHIHAOUI, Expert from National Institute of Statistics (INS) of Tunisia, with the participation of 17 officials of the INS.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Social protection – includes the topics on measures to protect people against the risks of inadequate incomes associated with unemployment, ill health, invalidity, old age, parental responsibilities, or inadequate income following the loss of a spouse or parent, etc., includes statistics on pension beneficiaries, social security schemes, social protection expenditure, etc.

The Training Course on ‘Social Protection Statistics’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

  • Concepts and Definitions
  • Trends and challenges of social protection
  • Indicators for monitoring social protection policies
  • Data Sources
  • Indicators of social protection
  • Application: Case of Cote d'Ivoire
