Study Visit on ‘Population and Migration Statistics’ to Malaysia

In accordance with its 2017 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Study Visit on ‘Population and Migration Statistics’ to Malaysia for the benefit of the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) of Saudi Arabia on 29-30 January 2018. The study visit was hosted by the Department of Statistics (DOS) Malaysia with the participation of senior officials of GASTAT of Saudi Arabia.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); population and migration statistics include work in population and demographic statistics, topics like demography, vital statistics, population structures and growth, demographic projections, families and households (marriages, divorces, household size), migration, refugees and asylum seekers.

The Study Visit on ‘Population and Migration Statistics’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:
