Statistics Course on ‘Energy Statistics’ in Azerbaijan

In accordance with its 2018 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Statistics Course on ‘Energy Statistics’ at State Statistical Committee (SSC) of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 5-7 February 2018.

The Statistics Course was conducted by Ms. Sahar SAHEBI ARAGHI, Group Leader for Energy Statistics at Statistical Centre of Iran (SCI) with the participation of 5 officials of SSC of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 – October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); energy statistics covers any statistical activity dealing with energy supply, energy use, energy balances, security of supply, energy markets, trade in energy, energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and government expenditure on energy.

The Statistics Course on ‘Energy Statistics’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

  • Scope of energy statistics
  • Definitions and classifications of energy products
  • An introduction to FDES
    • An introduction to component two – Environmental resources and their use
  • An overview of SEEA energy
  • Data collection:
    • Administrative registers
    • Sample Surveys:
      • An introduction to survey of manufacturing establishments with 10 workers and more (Energy Section)
      • An Introduction to survey of energy carrier consumption and environmental characteristics of households
