Technical Mission on ‘Business Censuses and Registers’ to Brunei Darussalam

In accordance with its 2018 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Technical Mission on ‘Business Censuses and Registers’ to the Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE) of Brunei Darussalam on 29-31 October 2018.

The Technical Mission was conducted by Ms. Riyanti Binti Saari, Director of Methodology and Research Division at Department of Statistics (DoS) Malaysia, with the participation of 21 officials of JPKE of Brunei Darussalam.

The Technical Mission on ‘Business Censuses and Registers’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

  • Introduction to Statistical Business Register (SBR)
  • Business Census / Survey Methods in Malaysia
  • Overview of Registry of Companies and Business Names (ROCBN) System by ROCBN
  • Overview of Business Information System (SMS) by DEPD
  • Overview of Business Reporting Portal (BRP) by Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry
  • Quality Assurance of the SBR
  • Business Census / Survey Methods by DEPD
  • Use of Administrative Data in the SBR
  • Modernization of MSBR;
