SESRIC Participated in the Brainstorming Meeting of OIC-15 Dialogue Platform

The Brainstorming Meeting of OIC-15 Dialogue Platform was organized by the Government of Kazakhstan in coordination with the OIC General Secretariat and COMSTECH on 19 November 2019 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Meeting was attended by delegates of 26 OIC countries and representatives of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, OIC General Secretariat, COMSTECH, IOFS, and SESRIC.

HE Nursultan NAZARBAYEV, first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, proposed to create a platform; namely, OIC-15 Dialogue Platform, that will bring together 15 leading OIC countries with strong credentials in science, technology, and innovation to discuss the causes impeding the progress of OIC countries and suggest practical measures to help them in their efforts for the development of science, technology, and innovation.

In the meeting, representatives of COMSTECH, OIC General Secretariat and Government of Kazakhstan informed the delegates about the objectives, structure, eligibility criteria, and scope of the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform on which the delegates provided their comments.

During the Brainstorming meeting, SESRIC made a presentation concerning the status of OIC countries in science, technology, and innovation from the dimensions of human resources and expenditures in research and development, patents and scientific publications, capacity for innovation, and high technology exports.

The Brainstorming Meeting ended with the vote of thanks to the Government of Kazakhstan for this initiative.
