The Centre organised a training course on “Basic Data Analysis for Price and Foreign Trade Data” at the Central Department of Statistics and Information (CDSI), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 24-26 December 2011. The course was provided by an expert from the Centre. The training course on “Basic Data Analysis of Price and Foreign Trade Data” mainly covered the following subjects:

  • Method of data collection (censuses and sample surveys)
  • Data sources (households, business enterprises and administrative records)
  • Data quality components (from product and process point of view)
  • Key aspects of data validation (editing, coding and cleaning of data)
  • Classification systems (economic and social activities, commodities and products)
  • Basic concepts and definitions on price statistics
  • Basic concepts and definitions on foreign trade statistics
  • Best practices on price and foreign trade data collection
