Representative of Ministry of Public Works of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan visited the SESRIC

Mr. Yama Yari, advisor at the Ministry of Public Works of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan visited the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) on 21 December 2012 and had a meeting with the Mr. Huseyin Hakan Eryetli, Director of Training and Technical Cooperation Department of the Centre.

At the outset, Mr. Eryetli welcomed the representative of the Ministry of Public Works of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and briefed him on the activities of the Centre in the three areas of mandate: research, statistics and training. He stated that the Centre endeavours to enhance all sorts of cooperation and collaboration with all related national, regional and international institutions aiming at realising its objectives for the benefit of all Member Countries. In this regard, he expressed SESRIC’s readiness in improving mutual relationship with Ministry of Public Works of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in regards to developing cooperated projects. Furthermore Mr. Eryetli informed that the Centre has planned to organize a study visit ‘Railway System Technologies’ in collaboration with the Turkish State Railways on the first quarter of 2013 in Eskisehir, Turkey with participation of railway experts from Member Countries and invited Mr. Yari to participate the study visit to share experience of Ministry. The said study visit targets to provide a platform for OIC Member Countries to share their technologies, strategies and expertise in developing railway infrastructure, exchange experience and knowledge and to benefit from other Member Countries’ best practices in this field.

On his part, Mr. Yari expressed his thanks to Mr. Eryetli for his warm receiving and informed him about the activities and projects of the Ministry, particularly on the area of railway transportation.
