Training Course on 'Competition Law and Policy' in Albania

Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) organised, in collaboration with the Competition Authority of the Republic of Turkey, a training course on “Competition Law and Policy” within the framework of the OIC Capacity Building Programme for Competition Authorities (OIC-CA-CaB) on 15-17 May 2013 in Tirana, Albania. The course was provided by Mr. Ümit Nevruz Özdemir, Expert on Competition, and Mr. Ali Arıöz, Chief Competition Expert, and was attended by several experts from the Albanian Competition Authority.

The training course on “Competition Law and Policy” mainly covered the following subjects;

  • Application of Competition Policy/Law
  • Challenges in detecting hard core cartels;
  • Detecting abuse of dominance/Unilateral and Collective Dominance Criteria used to assess dominance/market power
  • Mergers and Acquisitions
  • Liberalisation and Competition Law Enforcement in Regulated Industries
  • Case before the Albanian Commission related with lock
