This study presents a brief assessment of science and technology (S&T) indicators for the OIC member countries in comparison to the rest of the world by using the available data collected from the relevant international sources.
While the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is our main data source on human resources and R&D expenditures, the data on scientific and technical journal articles come from the Institute for Scientific Information’s Science Citation Index (SCI), Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED), Social Science Citation Index (SSCI), and Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI).
