Indicator Unit Definition
Ease of Doing Business Index Rank Value Ranking of economies from 1 to 190, with first place being the best. A high ranking (a low numerical rank) means that the regulatory environment is conducive to business operation. The index averages the country's percentile rankings on 10 topics covered in the World Bank's Doing Business. The ranking on each topic is the simple average of the percentile rankings on its component indicators.
Financial Development Index Index Value Relative ranking of countries on the depth, access, and efficiency of their financial institutions and financial markets. It is an aggregate of the Financial Institutions Index and the Financial Markets Index.
Food Production Index (2004-2006=100) Index Value Measures the changes in the production of food crops that are considered edible and that contain nutrients in a given year relative to base year.
GINI Index Index Value Measures the extent to which the distribution of income (or, in some cases, consumption expenditure) among individuals or households within an economy deviates from a perfectly equal distribution. A GINI index of 0 represents perfect equality, while an index of 100 implies perfect inequality.
Human Development Index Rank Value Standard competition ranking ("1224" ranking) where countries with equal Human Development Index values receive the same ranking number, and then a gap is left in the ranking numbers.
Human Development Index Index Value Summary measure of average achievement in key dimensions of human development, namely a long and healthy life, being knowledgeable and have a decent standard of living.
Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (2006=100) Index Value Reflects a country's integration level into global liner shipping networks based on six components. It is an index set at 100 for the maximum value of country connectivity in the first quarter of 2006. This indicator shows the quarterly index average (Q1 to Q4) in the given year.
Logistics Performance Index, Overall Index Value Reflects perceptions of a country's logistics based on efficiency of customs clearance process, quality of trade- and transport-related infrastructure, ease of arranging competitively priced shipments, quality of logistics services, ability to track and trace consignments, and frequency with which shipments reach the consignee within the scheduled time. The index ranges from 1 to 5, with a higher score representing better performance.
Statistical Capacity Indicator, Methodology Assessment Score Measures a country’s ability to adhere to internationally recommended standards and methods. The methodology score is calculated as the weighted average of 10 underlying indicator scores. The final methodology score contributes 1/3 of the overall Statistical Capacity Indicator score.
Statistical Capacity Indicator, Overall Average Score Assesses the capacity of a country’s statistical system based on a diagnostic framework assessing the following areas: methodology; data sources; and periodicity and timeliness. Countries are scored against 25 criteria in these areas, using publicly available information and/or country input. The overall Statistical Capacity score is then calculated as a simple average of all three area scores on a scale of 0-100.
Statistical Capacity Indicator, Periodicity and Timeliness Assessment Score Assesses the availability and periodicity of key socioeconomic indicators. It measures the extent to which data are made accessible to users through transformation of source data into timely statistical outputs. The periodicity score is calculated as the weighted average of 10 underlying indicator scores. The final periodicity score contributes 1/3 of the overall Statistical Capacity Indicator score.
Statistical Capacity Indicator, Source Data Assessment Score Reflects whether a country conducts data collection activities in line with internationally recommended periodicity, and whether data from administrative systems are available. The source data score is calculated as the weighted average of 5 underlying indicator scores. The final source data score contributes 1/3 of the overall Statistical Capacity Indicator score.
