Within the framework of its Tobacco Free Capacity Building Programme (Cotton-CaB), SESRIC, in collaboration with the Turkish Green Crescent Society, organised a Training Course on “Effective Communication Strategies for Tobacco Control Advocacy” on 27-28 May 2025 through an online video conference platform.
This event was held in commemoration of World No Tobacco Day, taking place during the same week to highlight the global commitment to tobacco control and public health awareness.
The training course was provided by competent experts from the Turkish Green Crescent Society for the benefit of 73 experts and executives from the Ministries and relevant national institutions in charge of tobacco control in 20 OIC countries.
The course aimed to enhance the communication capacities of participants engaged in tobacco control efforts across member countries. The main goal was to equip participants with practical, evidence-based tools to deliver powerful messages, respond effectively to misinformation, and engage different audiences, including policymakers, media, and the public.
The course also targeted encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing among countries, helping participants learn from each other’s experiences and strategies. This training offered a valuable opportunity to align national advocacy efforts with global tobacco control goals and public health priorities.
The training course covered several topics, including:
-
Introduction to Tobacco Control
-
Localizing Tobacco Control Advocacy: Strategies for Community-Based Communication
