At the official launch of ICDL (International Computer Driving License certification in Africa) by CERCO Mali (social and technology-based educational structure established in 2006), The Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Mme Diarra Miriam Flantié Diallo, strongly suggested to her other high-ranking Government colleagues in attendance, the usefulness of introducing ICDL as a means for the enhancement of productivity, the acceleration of all general working processes, and the improved efficiency of the entire Public Administration within Mali.
Mme Diarra also reinforced the widely held belief that increased ICT competency is of enormous general benefit both to companies’ enhanced profitability, and to the improvement of individuals’ personal circumstances – especially for the younger generations of Africa. She suggested that the introduction of ICDL in Mali would provide a clear and internationally recognised measure of ICT competency, and would enable the entire population to benefit socio-economically from improved digital literacy.
The launch was attended was by several high-ranking officials from the Malian government, including: the Chief Operating Officer for the State Agency for Youth Employment, the Representative of the Army’s Chief of Staff, as well as the Representative for the Gendarmerie Nationale.
A highlight of the event was the award given to Chief of State, President of the Republic of Mali, His Excellency Amadou Toumani Touré in recognition of his dedication to making ICT more widely available to all of the people of Mali.
