Date : 11-15 May 2020 Venue : Chiba-Japan -

SESRIC will participate in the Regional Training of Trainers on the Curriculum on Gender Statistics for Monitoring the SDGs that will be organised by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), United Nations Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) and United Nations for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women). The training of trainers is scheduled to take place on 11-15 May 2020 in Chiba, Japan.

The training of trainers will provide the opportunity for participants to review and understand key components of the Training Curriculum on Gender Statistics, which is currently being finalised by the Subgroup on Gender Statistics Training (SGGST). The objectives of this Training of Trainers will include:

  • Providing trainers with an overall understanding of the materials included in the Gender Statistics Training Curriculum.
  • Building trainers’ skills on gender statistics.
  • Sharing tools and strategies for trainers to be ready to facilitate training on gender statistics in their respective countries.
  • Providing technical guidance for planning the implementation of training on gender statistics.

The SGGST, a subsidiary organ within the Network for the Coordination of Statistical Training in Asia and the Pacific, was established in 2018 to support national statistical offices in the region to acquire necessary statistical capacities to effectively produce and use gender statistics for tracking of progress on the Sustainable Development Goals. SESRIC has been a formal member of the SGGST since 15 November 2018.
