Date: 26 August 2019

SESRIC published its first edited book on Financing for Development. As an outcome of the “International Symposium on Financing for Development” that SESRIC organised in partnership with the Islamic Development Bank on 22-23 November 2018 in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey, the book presents alternative views and perspectives on different dimensions of financing for development in developing countries including OIC countries. It involves 17 essays authored by high level policy-makers, finance experts and academicians from different national, regional and international institutions.

The book is structured around three main parts. The first part focuses on development challenges and alternative perspectives on financing for development. The second part of the book includes essays on bilateral and multilateral cooperation in financing for development. The final part contains essays that highlight the role and importance of Islamic finance services for financing development.

Presenting alternative perspectives and innovative approaches, the book is expected to contribute to the discussions on the importance of mobilising additional financial resources, supportive to delivering the intended results and impact in developing world. It is also expected to encourage the development partners and other stakeholders to refocus their attention on the challenges of financing development and diligently consider the alternative solutions presented in the book.
