Human Rights Standards and Institution in OIC Member States
Date: 16 September 2019

SESRIC in cooperation with the OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) prepared the report “Human Rights Standards and Institution in OIC Member States” to address the growing human rights concerns and efforts of the OIC Member States. The report thoroughly examines the human rights framework in the OIC Member States by drawing attention to its existing human rights norms, standards and institutions. The report also investigates the human rights violations toward Muslims in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Myanmar and the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir as these violations have an immense impact and influence on the OIC’s human rights framework.

The report indicated that although OIC has so far made a significant progress regarding human rights issues and played an important role in protecting Muslims around the world, there is still a room for more steps to be taken in order to improve the institutionalisation of its human rights regime with a view to improving the mechanism of resolving human rights issues of Muslim communities.
