The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) is a subsidiary organ of the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) established in 1978. The Centre operates in Ankara with the mission of serving the OIC and its member countries in the areas of statistics, socio-economic research and training. SESRIC serves as the major socio-economic statistical and information bank on and for the OIC member countries and acts as the main socio-economic research organ of the OIC. The Centre also initiates and implements a wide-range of capacity building programs on various socio-economic areas and fields of immediate interest to the OIC member countries.

Job description/duties and responsibilities
Job Description Summary

The Head of Training and Technical Cooperation is in charge of organizing and coordinating training and capacity building programmes in selected fields tailored to the needs of the OIC Member States as well as to the goals of the OIC. S/he undertakes strong and close collaboration with the relevant international, national and OIC Institutions in order to initiate and implement various capacity building training activities on a wide range of socio-economic issues of interest to the OIC Member States with a view to enhancing the capacities of their human resources through different modalities of cooperation. Besides, S/he oversees the implementation of multi-stakeholder capacity development projects and activities –conducted / being conducted in different geographical regions of the OIC namely; Africa, Arab and Asia.

Main Responsibilities and Duties
  • Manage the implementation of the capacity building activities on a wide range of socio-economic issues of interest to the OIC Member States within the framework of SESRIC Capacity Building Programmes,
  • Contribute to the improvement of the quality of vocational education and training (VET) in the OIC Member States within the framework of the Vocational Education and Training Programme for the Member States of the OIC (OIC-VET) and in line with the OIC-TVET Strategic Roadmap 2020-2025,
  • Develop and conduct programmes, projects and activities to support the efforts of the OIC Member States in improving competencies and skills of their human resources according to the needs and priorities of labour markets,
  • Plan, supervise and monitor technical cooperation projects and activities in cooperation with the relevant international, national and OIC Institutions through south-south cooperation modalities,
  • Manage and coordinate the effective implementation of the multi-stakeholder capacity development projects/ activities such as Reverse Linkages to enhance human and institutional capacities of the OIC Member States in needed fields and areas,
  • Preparation of cooperation agreements including Memorandums of Understandings (MoU), partnership agreements and statement of intents,
  • Plan and manage short-term training courses, training workshops, study visits and seminars in various fields and areas of interest to the OIC Member States,
  • Mobilize resources and partners to the activities being implemented by the Centre in different geographical regions of the OIC,
  • Coordinate the preparation of concept notes, background analysis, terms of references (ToR) documents based on the requirements of each program, activity or event,
  • Develop annual working programme and the budget of the department in accordance with annual working strategy of the Centre,
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Educational Requirements

Master’s degree in a social science (MBA and/or PhD an advantage).

Language requirements

Excellent oral and written command of English (knowledge of Arabic and/or French is a plus).

Job Experience

10+ years of work experience in the field of regional and international development (working experience in relevant OIC Institutions is an advantage).
