Occupational Health and Safety Centre (İSGÜM) of Turkey Registered as the First OIC-VET Partner

Occupational Health and Safety Centre (İSGÜM) of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of Turkey has become the first registered institution as a partner in the OIC-VET Partners Database. İSGÜM was established in 1968 by a joint project of the Turkish Government, the UNDP and ILO as a non-profit governmental organization. The Centre is composed of professionals from various fields of engineering and medicine. The Centre partnered the OIC-VET Pilot Project titled “Study Visit on Occupational Health and Safety” during the period 24-28 May 2010.

Main activities of İSGÜM are as following:

  • Providing scientific basis for the management and prevention of occupational accidents & diseases by scientific research activities; 
  • Performing physical and chemical measurements and analyses; 
  • Determining whether the laboratory measurement results are complying with limit values in the regulations; 
  • Carrying out biological measurements and medical examinations of employees; and 
  • Giving OSH consultancy and training.
