Training Course on 'Labour Statistics' in Djibouti

In accordance with its 2015 Annual Work Plan, SESRIC organised the training course on ‘Labour Statistics’ at the Department of Statistics and Demographic Studies (DISED) of Djibouti on 5-7 October 2015, within the framework of the Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme. The course was conducted by Mr. Moise Georges Enoh, Expert at the National Institute of Statistics (NIS) of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire with participation of relevant officials of DISED.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009); Labour Statistics – a statistical activity category under the Demographic and social statistics – covers statistics on labour force, labour market, employment and unemployment; the more detailed topics include economically active population, labour conditions, health and safety at work (accidents at work, occupational injuries and diseases, work-related health problems), working time and other working conditions, strikes and lockouts, job vacancies, job creation.

The training course on 'Labour Statistics' focused on the following topics:

  • The Concepts and Definitions of Labour Statistics, as defined by International Conventions, Resolutions and Recommendations;
  • Measuring the Informal Sector;
  • Statistics on Child Labour;
  • The Measurement of Decent Work;
