Strengthening Coordination and Capacity Building on Preparedness and Response for Health Emergencies in OIC Member States: Sudan Study visit

Under Thematic Area 5 on Emergency Health Response and Interventions of the Strategic Health Programme of Action (SHPA), SESRIC organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Turkey a study visit of 5 delegates from the Ministry of Health of Sudan on 6-8 March 2017 in the cities of Ankara and Izmir, Turkey.

The study visit aimed to present the health emergencies facilities of the Ministry of Health of Turkey in Ankara and Urla, Izmir and discuss ways and means for developing a project on “Strengthening Coordination and Capacity Building on Preparedness and Response for Health Emergencies in OIC Member States” to improve health status of Ummah in health emergencies.

The study visit started with a meeting at SESRIC and was followed by a visit to the Department of Early Warning and Response of Public Health Institute. During the second and third days, visits were organized to the Provincial Command and Control Center of Ankara, Health Disaster Coordination Center of MoH of Turkey (SAKOM) and the Urla International Emergency and Disaster Health Training and Simulation Center (URLASIM). During these visits, the Sudanese delegation met with the responsible people of the abovementioned facilities and got an overview of the working process of the Preparedness and Response for Health Emergencies System in Turkey through several presentations and rich discussions in this area.
