As part of the 2nd World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2), SESRIC, the League of Arab States (LAS) and the Arab Labour Organization (ALO) will co-organize a solutions session on “Digital Pathways to Formalizing the Social and Solidarity Economy,” to be held on November 4, 2025, at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC) in Doha.
The session will explore how digital transformation, when combined with enabling policy environments, can accelerate the transition from informal to formal employment through the social and solidarity economy (SSE). It will highlight concrete examples illustrating how digital tools and inclusive business models can empower vulnerable groups, improve livelihoods, and promote digital accessibility for persons with disabilities.
The session will bring together policymakers, experts, and local stakeholders to share success stories, discuss policy innovations, and strengthen regional cooperation. Key topics to be discussed will be digital inclusion, internet access, the role of digital registries, and social security in supporting formalization.
