Training Course on 'Classifications' in Algeria

In accordance with its 2014 Annual Work Plan, SESRIC organised the Training Course on ‘Classifications’ at the National Office of Statistics (ONS) in Alger, People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria on 21-22 December 2014, within the framework of the Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme. The course was provided by Mrs. Asmaa Abdelrasoul Mohamed Mourad, senior specialist at Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) of Arab Republic of Egypt with participation of relevant officials of ONS of Algeria

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009), the statistical activities under ‘Classifications’ category include developing, managing, maintaining and harmonizing economic, social and environmental classifications. The “classifications” is an activities category under the ‘Methodology of data collection, processing, dissemination and analysis’ domain.

The training course on 'Classifications' covered the following topics:

  • Definition of international classifications, relevance and objective of preparing for the field of statistics and types of international classifications and the role of the work unit responsible for preparation classifications.
  • Industrial classifications (economic activities) components, issues, how to use it.
  • Professional classification (components, issues, how to use it).
  • Classification of education (components, issues, how to use it), how to connect the guide of activity, professions and education.
