Fifth Meeting of the COMCEC Tourism Working Group

The Fifth Meeting of the COMCEC Tourism Working Group was held on February 5th, 2015 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme “Travel Facilitation for Enhancing Mobility in the OIC Member States”. The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 10 OIC Member States including Gambia, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mozambique, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sudan and Turkey. Representatives from the COMCEC Coordination Office, ICDT, WTTC (World Travel and Tourism Council), IATA, Tourism Economics, and Turkish Airlines have also attended the Meeting. The Centre was represented thereat by Dr. Cem Tintin, Researcher and Mr. Abdulhamit Ozturk, Researcher

At the working group meeting, the COMCEC Coordination Office presented the “COMCEC Tourism Outlook Report”. Then, Ms. Marano from WTTC made a presentation on the instruments to facilitate international travel. In session 2, Mr. Goodger from Tourism Economics launched the new analytical report “Travel Facilitation in the OIC Member Countries: Current Situation, Main Challenges, Recommendations and Prospects”. In the afternoon sessions, delegates found opportunity to discuss and share their views on these studies’ findings and recommendations. The delegations from Turkey, Mozambique, Senegal, Malaysia, and Oman also exchanged their views, achievements and experience on the instruments that they use in order to enhance mobility in their respective countries.
