Training Course on 'Analysis of Household Income and Expenditure Data' in Kuwait

In accordance with its 2015 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of the Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the training course on 'Analysis of Household Income and Expenditure Data' at the Central Statistics Bureau (CSB) in Kuwait City, State of Kuwait on 11-14 May 2015. The course was conducted by Mr. Mehmet Ali Karadag, Expert at the Turkish Statistics Institute (TURKSTAT), with the participation of 14 officials of the CSB of Kuwait.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009); income and consumption statistics, a statistical activity category under the Demographic and Social Statistics domain, covers statistics on household income and expenditures from household viewpoint (all types of income and expenditure), including topics like distribution of incomes, in-kind income, income transfers received and paid, income or expenditure-based measures of poverty, consumer protection, consumption patterns, consumer goods and durables, household wealth and debts.

The training course on 'Analysis of Household Income and Expenditure Data' focused on the following topics:

  • Income and Expenditure Surveys in Kuwait and Turkey
  • Monetary Poverty Measurement
  • Cost of Basic Needs Approach
  • Inequality Measures
  • Poverty and Inequality Measures in Turkey
  • ADePT Software
