Training Course on 'Quality in Statistics' in Tajikistan

Dushanbe, TajikistanThe Centre organised a training programme on “Quality in Statistics” at the State Committee on Statistics of the Republic of Tajikistan on May 26-28, 2008. The programme was provided by an expert from the Turkish Statistical Institute in Turkey and was attended by 20 staff members of the State Committee on Statistics of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The training programme on “Quality in Statistics” mainly covered the following subjects:

1. Sources of non-sampling errors and measurement
- Coverage errors
- Non-response errors
- Measurement errors
- Processing errors
2. Response reliability surveys
- Index of crude agreement
- Index of crude disagreement
- Index of inconsistency
- Measure of disagreement between marginals
- Index of inconsistency
3. Statistical process control
4. EUROSTAT quality components:
- Relevance
- Accuracy
- Timeliness and punctuality
- Accessibility and clarity
- Comparability
- Coherence

The participants of the training programme organised by the SESRIC expressed their appreciation and satisfaction with the programme which aimed to improve the statistical capacity and performance of the State Committee on Statistics of the Republic of Tajikistan in the area “Quality in Statistics”.
