The 32nd Ministerial Session of the COMCEC was convened

The 32ndMinisterial Session of the COMCEC was held in Istanbul, Turkey on 21-24 November 2016. The Session, which was chaired by H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of the Republic of Turkey, was attended by the delegates of OIC Member States and relevant OIC, regional and international institutions.

The Meeting of the Senior Officials of the The 32nd Session of the COMCEC was held on 21-22 November, where the delegations of the Member States and the OIC institutions considered and deliberated on a number of agenda items related to various issues of enhancing economic and commercial cooperation among the Member States. Following agenda items were discussed during the meeting:

  • Report on the COMCEC Strategy and Its Implementation
  • The OIC Ten-Year Program of Action
  • World Economic Developments with Special Reference to the OIC Member Countries
  • Intra-OIC Trade
  • Enhancing the Role of Private Sector in Economic Cooperation
  • Improving Transport and Communications
  • Developing a Sustainable and Competitive Tourism Sector
  • Increasing Productivity of Agriculture Sector and Sustaining Food Security
  • Alleviating Poverty
  • Deepening Financial Cooperation
  • Exchange of Views on “Developing Islamic Finance Strategies in the OIC Member Countries

Under each agenda item, the Session was briefed on the implemented and ongoing activities of SESRIC towards the realisation of COMCEC Strategy by presenting the SESRIC Activity Report which was circulated at the 32nd Session of the COMCEC.

Moreover, on the sidelines of the Senior Official Meeting, SESRIC has launched the OIC Economic Outlook 2016 report themed on “Transforming the Potentials into Impact”. The main highlights of the report were presented by H.E. Ambassador Musa Kulaklıkaya during the meeting and the presentation attracted significant attention from the representatives of the participating member countries, regional and international institutions.

On the sideline of the COMCEC Session, a series of side events were held on Islamic finance.
