In line with Thematic Area 3 on “Maternal, New-born and Child Health and Nutrition” of the OIC Strategic Health Programme of Action (OIC-SHPA), the Consultation Meeting for the OIC Maternal Health and Child Survival Project on “mobilisation of resources for scale-up interventions to improve maternal, new-born, and child care” was held in Casablanca, Morocco on 30 November -01 December.

The project aimed at supporting the countries that conducted the Bottleneck Analysis (BNA) in order to take the next steps toward improving MNCH care and reduce maternal and child deaths. Bottleneck analysis was based on the availability of MNH interventions and their consistency with WHO guidelines, focusing on the main bottlenecks for health system building blocks at country level and identification of feasible and effective strategies and solutions to prevent maternal and neonatal deaths among the participating countries.

The meeting was attended by the delegations of four countries (Afghanistan, Chad, Cameroon, and Mauritania) as well as the project partners (OIC, SESRIC, USAID, MCSP, WHO and EMPHNET) and aimed at building the participants’ capacity with a view to considering options to mobilize resources addressing bottlenecks identified within the national health system.
