6th Session of the Ministerial Conference on Women’s Role in the Development of OIC Member States

The 6th Session of the Ministerial Conference on Women’s Role in the Development of OIC Member States was hosted by the Ministry of Family and Social Policies of the Republic of Turkey in Istanbul, Turkey on 1-3 November 2016 under the theme ‘’Women’s Status in the OIC Member States in the Light of the Current Challenges’’.

The Conference provided a rich opportunity to debate the various issues and challenges pertaining to women empowerment and the implementation of the OIC Plan of Action for the Advancement of Women (OPAAW) document, its evaluation and follow-up indicators. Furthermore, the Conference aims to consolidate OIC and Member States’ efforts towards the promotion and empowerement of women’s status in OIC Member States.

During the Conference, SESRIC launched and presented its report on the ‘’State of Gender in OIC Countries: Prospects and Challenges’’ as well as the outcome of the workshop on “The Role of Women in OIC Member States” organised by SESRIC on 3-4 October 2016 in Ankara, Turkey.
