Training Course on ‘Living Conditions and Poverty Statistics’ in Benin

In accordance with its 2017 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Training Course on ‘Living Conditions and Poverty Statistics’ at National Institute of Statistics and Economic Analysis (INSAE) of Republic of Benin on 16 – 18 May 2017.

The Training Course was conducted by Mr. Zima DIALLO, Expert from National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) of Republic of Mali, with the participation of 23 officials of the INSAE.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Living Conditions and Poverty Statistics – covers work on multidimensional methods to measure poverty, living conditions in the broad sense, social inclusion/exclusion, social indicators, and social situation.

The Training Course on ‘Living Conditions and Poverty Statistics’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

  • Different forms of poverty,
  • Characterization of poverty,
  • Using the DAD software to calculate indicators, and
  • Multidimensional methods to measure poverty
