Training Course on ‘Economic Accounts’ in Pakistan

In accordance with its 2017 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Training Course on ‘Economic Accounts’ at Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on 18 – 20 December 2017.

The Training Course was conducted by Mr. N. Rajkumar V. NAGARETHINAM, Department of Statistics (DoS) of Malaysia, with the participation of 13 officials of the PBS.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009;http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Economic Accounts – includes the topics on National Accounts in both current and constant prices, dealing with topics like implementation of the 1993 System National Accounts (1993 SNA), update of the 1993 SNA, European System of Accounts (ESA95), Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Gross National Income (GNI), non-observed and informal economy, measurement of capital, input-output tables, balance sheets, etc.

The Training Course on ‘Economic Accounts’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics

  • Introduction to Institutional Unit and Sectors
  • Introduction to Production Accounts.
  • Introduction to Primary Distribution of Income Accounts.
  • Secondary distribution of income account.
  • Use of income account.
  • Capital account.
