Training Course on OIC Diplomacy for Junior Diplomats
Date: 26-29 November 2018
Venue: Istanbul - Türkiye

SESRIC organized the Training Course on OIC Diplomacy for Junior Diplomats from the Member States on 26-29 November 2018 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Diplomats of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of more than 30 OIC countries and Embassies of Member States in Ankara attended the training. The event hosted representatives of the OIC General Secretariat, OIC institutions and other relevant organizations, who contributed to the effectiveness of the course by giving presentations.

The 4-day training course provided a distinct opportunity for the junior diplomats from the OIC Member States to enrich their knowledge about the OIC, its agendas and modalities of cooperation. This course helped also young diplomats to be more aware of the common positions of the OIC on current regional and international issues. In addition, it has raised their awareness for the political, economic, social and security challenges that the Muslim world and the international community are facing.

In conjunction with the 48th Anniversary of the establishment of the OIC, SESRIC launched the OIC Diplomacy Capacity Building Program for diplomats from the OIC Member States. In November 2017, SESRIC organised the first training course for junior diplomats from the OIC Countries with the aim to enhance their diplomatic skills, help them acquire necessary knowledge about the OIC and understand the major regional and international issues. Following this successful experience SESRIC decided to hold this training regularly each year to fill the needs in this important field.
