Date: 28-30 November 2018
Venue: New York-USA -

The Global South-South Development Expo (GSSD Expo) 2018 took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, on 28-30 November 2018. The United Nations Office organizes the EXPO for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) in close consultation with the UN General Assembly High-level Committee on South-South Cooperation and UN specialized agencies, funds and programmes.

The year 2018 marks the 10th anniversary of the launching of the GSSD Expo. This year’s theme was ‘’Showcasing Institutions Supporting South-South and Triangular Cooperation in preparation for the Second High-level United Nations Conference on South-South Cooperation (BAPA+40)’’. The GSSD Expo strategically engaged all development actors, including the private sector, civil society, academic and philanthropic organizations, to scale-up concrete Southern-grown initiatives to help achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The GSSD Expo served as a platform to display development initiatives while leveraging the complementary strengths of all institutional partners in addressing global and regional challenges. Since its launch in 2008, the GSSD Expo has showcased more than 500 Southern solutions, hosted over 4,500 development experts and practitioners, connected 150 countries, mobilized over $15 million in partner financing, launched 15 South-South and triangular cooperation initiatives, and encouraged 30 UN partners to Deliver as One.
