Statistics Course on ‘Sustainable Development Statistics’ in Azerbaijan

SESRIC organised a Statistics Course on ‘Sustainable Development Statistics’ on 26-28 November 2018 at the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SSC) within the framework of OIC Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme.

Mr. Mohamad Shukor Bin Mat Lazim, Assistant Director of Manpower and Social Statistics Division at Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), conducted the course with the participation of 7 officials of the SSC of Azerbaijan.

The Course included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

  • Introduction of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Overview of SDGs in Malaysia
    • Governance of SDGs
    • Preliminary assessment of SDGs Indicators (17 Goals & 169 Targets)
    • SDGs focus area (People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace & Partnership)
  • Assessment of SDGs Indicators:
    • SDGs focus area for People (Goals 1-5)
  • Azerbaijan scenario: The implementation of SDGs in Azerbaijan & Data readiness for Goals 1-5
  • Assessment of SDGs Indicators:
    • SDGs focus area for Planet (Goals 6, 12-15)
  • Azerbaijan scenario: Data readiness for Goals 6, 12-15
  • Assessment of SDGs Indicators:
    • SDGs focus area for Prosperity (Goals 7-11)
  • Azerbaijan scenario: Data readiness for Goals 7-11
  • Assessment of SDGs Indicators:
    • SDGs focus area for Peace & Partnership (Goals 16 & 17)
  • Azerbaijan scenario: Data readiness for Goals 16 & 17
  • SDGs Monitoring & Reporting
