SESRIC participated in the High-Level SPEED Steering Committee Meeting

SESRIC participated in the High-Level SPEED (Syrian Palestinian Employment and Entrepreneurship Development) Steering Committee Meeting and sequent technical-level meeting on 22-23 May 2019 at Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group Regional Hub in Ankara, Turkey.

The High-Level Meeting brought together some of the partnering institutions, including the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Turkish Red Crescent (KIZILAY).

The Steering Committee reviewed the progress achieved so far in the project, and in particular, the outcomes of the analysis of the “Socio-Economic Survey on the Syrian Palestinian Refugees” residing in Turkey, which was conducted by SESRIC.

The SPEED Project was initiated to scale up the program for economic empowerment of the Palestinian people and to build a partnership among different parties towards integrated economic empowerment of the Palestinian refugee families socially, psychologically, healthily and educationally as well as economically.

The Meeting also discussed further steps of the project, especially the project components regarding the human capital capacity development, financing and incubation of entrepreneurship ideas, and impact dissemination, which will be initiated during the upcoming phases of the project.
