Follow-up Meeting of the OIC Statistical Commission

SESRIC, in its capacity as the Secretariat of the OIC Statistical Commission (OIC-StatCom), organised the Follow-up Meeting of the OIC-StatCom on 5 March 2020 as a side event of the 51st Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission in New York, USA. 35 delegates from 17 OIC member countries including Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Gambia, Indonesia, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Mozambique, Oman, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, and Uzbekistan, as well as 3 international organisations including Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics (AITRS), Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (GCC-STAT), and United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), and 2 partner institutions (CDC and CDC Foundation).

Under the moderation of HE Mr. Nebil Dabur, Director General of SESRIC, the delegates were briefed on the progress of the resolutions of the 8th Session of OIC-StatCom. The delegates shared their inputs and comments about the composition of the bureau members, draft agenda items, and date and venue of 9th Session of OIC-StatCom that is proposed to be held on 30 September – 1 October 2020.

The Follow-up Meeting continued with an information session on the Tobacco Questions for Surveys (TQS) and TQS-Youth Module contributed by SESRIC, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and CDC Foundation.

The Follow-Up Meeting ended with the MoU Signing Ceremony between SESRIC and the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics.
