On-the-job Training on ‘Technology Incubation and Transfer’

SESRIC organised on-the-job training course on “Technology Incubation and Transfer” between 9 December 2019 and 01 February 2020 in Kocaeli, Turkey. The training was implemented as the second phase of the capacity building component of the Reverse Linkage Project between Sudan and Turkey on “Capacity Development of the Africa City of Technology (ACT)”.

Within the framework of the program, eight technical staff from ACT received on-the-job training for eight weeks at the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) Marmara Technopark (MARTEK).

The trainees attended lectures on the following topics:

  • Introduction to Business Models
  • Business Concept Development
  • Business Growth Strategies
  • Understanding the Market and Industry
  • Marketing of Products or Services
  • Human Resources Management and Operations
  • Strategic Management
  • Introduction to Technology Development and Free Zones (Acceptance, Regulations, Tax Exemptions, etc.)
  • Understanding of Technology Transfer Office (TTO) Working Procedures and Principles
  • MARTEK Administration and Online System

The main objective of the Reverse Linkage Project between Sudan and Turkey is to promote technology localization in Sudan and, in particular, to enhance the capacities of ACT in the area of technology incubation. ACT was established in Khartoum in 2008 to encourage the development of various fields of technology.

The project is carried out in partnership between SESRIC, the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the Turkish Coordination and Cooperation Agency (TIKA), the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) Marmara Technopark (MARTEK), Uludağ University Technology Development Zone (ULUTEK) and the Africa City of Technology (ACT).
