The Statistical Training on ‘Compilation and Analysis of National Food Balance Sheets in OIC Countries’ will be co-organised by SESRIC and Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) in collaboration with Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on 07-10 September 2020 in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey.

The main aim of the statistical training is to train the official statisticians of selected OIC countries in developing and preparing the annual food balance sheets of their respective countries which provide comprehensive information on patterns, levels and trends of national diets and play an important role for the analysis of the food and nutrition situation and for policymaking to address it.

Official statisticians working in the relevant sections of the National Statistical Office and/or Ministry of Agriculture of the selected OIC countries will participate in the statistical training. Competent experts from the Crops, Livestock & Food Statistics Section under Statistics Division (ESS) of FAO will facilitate the training with practical exercises.

The statistical training will be conducted within the general framework of the project of SESRIC titled “Enhancing Food Security through National Food Balance Sheets” which was among the successful final projects selected for co-financing in the 2020 implementation period of the COMCEC Project Funding.
