SESRIC Attended the Virtual Training Workshop on WTO Agricultural Negotiations and Their Impact on Trade of Agricultural Products among the OIC Member States

SESRIC attended the Virtual Training Workshop on WTO Agricultural Negotiations and Their Impact on Trade of Agricultural Products among the OIC Member States which was organized by the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT) and Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) on 26-28 October 2020.

Chaired by HE Mrs Latifa ELBOUABDELLAOUI, Director General of ICDT, the Workshop was attended by representatives from OIC member countries including Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Tunisia, Turkey, from OIC organisations including COMCEC, IsDB Group, IOFS, SESRIC, SMIIC, and from other international organisations including Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), African Export–Import Bank (Afreximbank), World Trade Organisation (WTO), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and South Centre.

The Workshop aimed at building the capacities of Negotiating Officials and Representatives of the OIC Member States in the field of trade negotiations and agreements related to agricultural products.

During the round panel on 28 October 2020, SESRIC made a presentation titled “Efforts of SESRIC Towards Enhancing the Technical Capacities of OIC Member Countries in the Domain of Agriculture and Food Security”. The presentation focused on the agriculture and food security related activities falling under the mandated areas of SESRIC including statistics, research, and training and technical cooperation.
