Webinar on ‘Motor Vehicles, Traffic Volume and Road Traffic Accidents Statistics’

Within the framework of its Webinar Series on Statistical Experience Sharing, SESRIC organised a webinar on ‘Motor Vehicles, Traffic Volume and Road Traffic Accidents Statistics’ on 3 June 2021 with the participation of 30 attendees from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of 21 OIC member countries.

After the welcoming remarks of Dr. Atilla KARAMAN, Director of Statistics and Information Department of SESRIC, the Webinar started with the presentation of Mr. Özgür HEMDİL, Expert at the Transport Statistics Department of TurkStat by covering the following topics related to motor vehicles, traffic volume and road traffic accidents statistics:

  • Data compilation method;
  • Database Format and Coverage;
  • Data Analysis;
  • Data Subscriptions and Special Data Requests; and
  • International Data Exchange and Comparison

After the presentation of TurkStat, representatives of BPS-Statistics Indonesia and UNESCWA Statistics Division shared the experiences and practices of their institutions in motor vehicles, traffic volume and road traffic accidents statistics.

The webinar was conducted through a video conferencing platform by following synchronous learning and instruction approaches designed in line with the virtual training solutions undertaken by SESRIC in order to better serve the Centre’s training activities and keep participants motivated and engaged during this time of global crisis due to COVID-19.
