SESRIC Participated in the 52nd Session of the UN Statistical Commission

The delegation of SESRIC headed by HE Mr. Nebil Dabur, Director General, and composed of Mr. Fadi Farasin, Assistant Director General; Dr. Atilla Karaman, Director of Statistics and Information Department; and Ms. Nenden Octavarulia Shanty, Researcher, participated in the 52nd Session of UN Statistical Commission (UNSC) organised in a virtual format on 1-3 March and 5 March 2021.

Before the start of main plenary session of the UNSC on 1 March 2021, SESRIC attended several virtual side events including the Global Network of Institutions for Statistics Training (GIST) Annual Meeting on 9 February 2021, GIST Open Side Event on ‘Building a Community to Strengthen Statistical Training’ on 11 February 2021, GIST Workshop on ‘Standard Statistical Training Curricula’ on 22 February 2021, and 37th Session of the Committee for the Coordination of Statistical Activities (CCSA) on 26 February 2021.

In addition, SESRIC organised the Follow-Up Meeting of the OIC-StatCom on the margins of the 52nd Session of UNSC on 25 February 2021. Moderated by HE Mr. Nebil Dabur, the meeting was attended by 59 representatives from 28 OIC Member Countries, OIC General Secretariat, and Islamic Development Bank Group. The meeting covered the implementation of the resolutions of 9th Session of OIC-StatCom, preparations for the 10th Session of OIC-StatCom including composition of the Bureau members, main agenda items, date & venue, and the mechanism to monitor the implementation of the OIC-StatCom Strategic Vision 2030 and Programme of Action 2021-2025.
