Training Workshop on ‘Management of Social Security Systems’

Within the framework of its Social Security Institutions Capacity Building Programme (SSI-CaB), SESRIC, in collaboration with the Social Security Institution (SGK) of the Republic of Turkey, organised a Training Workshop on “Management of Social Security Systems” on 25-27 October 2021 through an online video conferencing platform.

The training workshop was provided by competent experts from the Social Security Institution (SGK) of the Republic of Turkey for the benefit of 38 experts and executives from the National Social Security Institutions of 19 OIC member countries. During the training workshop, the representative from the International Labour Organization (ILO) Office for Turkey delivered a relevant technical presentation on the “ILO Perspective on Social Security” as well as experts from the Social Security Organization (SOCSO) of Malaysia, the Ministry of Labor of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the National Social Security Fund of the Republic of Tunisia made presentations by sharing their country experiences on the subject.

The main objective of the training workshop was to strengthen the technical capacities of the professional staff at the National Social Security Institutions of the OIC member countries through the exchange of knowledge, experience and best practices. The training workshop provided insights into relevant technical subjects such as social security management for developing countries, universal health insurance systems, short term and long term insurance branches in the Turkish Social Security System, among many others.

This training workshop was conducted in line with the virtual training solutions undertaken by SESRIC to better serve the Centre’s training activities and keep participants motivated and engaged during this challenging time of global crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
