Date: 04 November 2021
Venue: Niamey - Niger

SESRIC and National Institute of Statistics (INS) of Republic of Niger signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to facilitate collaboration and cooperation between both institutions within the framework of the project titled “Integration of Tobacco Questions for Surveys of Youth (TQS-Youth) into the National Surveys in Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member Countries”. The MoA was signed by HE. Mr. Nebil DABUR, Director General of SESRIC and HE. Mr. Idrissa ALICHINA KOURGUENI, Director General of INS of Republic of Niger on 4 November 2021.

During the implementation period, INS of Niger will integrate the TQS-Youth into its Harmonised Survey on Living Conditions of Households (HSLC 2021/2022) with a view to maintain consistency and comparability in monitoring tobacco use among youth globally and keep-up with the ever-changing tobacco control landscape. TQS-Youth also serves as a mechanism to improve survey comparability over time and harmonize them with international tobacco surveillance and monitoring activities focusing on the youth.
