The 40th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission was held on February 24-27, 2009 in New York. The representatives of National Statistical Organizations (NSOs) of 36 OIC Member States, observer countries and international organizations participated in the Session. SESRIC was also represented at the meeting.

The delegates discussed some reports and took decisions on various statistical subjects. During the session, the representative of SESRIC had many bilateral meetings with the delegates of the OIC Member States and with the delegates of international organizations such as the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), Statistical Office of the European Union (EUROSTAT), Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), International Monetary Fund (IMF), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
