SESRIC Participated in the 2nd Trade and Investment Sub-Committee (TISC) Leaders Meeting

The 2nd Trade and Investment Sub-Committee (TISC) Leaders Meeting was held on 08-09 March 2022 in Marrakesh, Kingdom of Morocco. The meeting organised by the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT), in its capacity as the Secretariat of the TISC, and attended by high-level officials from the members of TISC, including the OIC General Secretariat and relevant OIC institutions working in the fields of trade and investment.

The TISC is a Sub-Committee established under the Thematic Committee of Economic Affairs of the Annual Coordination Meeting of OIC Institutions (ACMOI). It aims to provide a platform for cooperation, information sharing and support among the relevant OIC Institutions dealing with trade and investment. The TISC has four Thematic Technical Committees, namely Trade Financing and Insurance, Strategic Commodities including COVID-19 products, Trade Facilitation and Investment Promotion, Halal Industry Development and Tourism Sector Development, under which the TISC members organise joint projects and activities related to the TISC thematic areas and evaluate to further enhance the existing joint efforts during the annual meetings of the Head of Institutions that convene in the first quarter of each year.

SESRIC participated in the 2nd TISC Leaders Meeting with a delegation headed by H.E. Mr. Nebil DABUR, Director General of SESRIC and included Mr. Onur ÇAĞLAR, Director of Training and Technical Cooperation Department. During the meeting, H.E. Mr. DABUR briefed the Committee on the implemented projects and activities of the Centre in line with the agreed matrix on TISC Activities for the year 2021 and planned programmes and activities of SESRIC in accordance with the TISC thematic areas under the three mandates of the Centre; i.e. statistics, research and training. During his interventions, H.E. Mr. DABUR expressed SESRIC’s readiness and willingness to cooperate with all the members in the TISC in programs, projects and activities, which fall within the agreed themes of the TISC and in line with the three mandated areas of SESRIC.

The meeting provided a platform for the TISC members to present, evaluate, and exchange on their activities and projects related to TISC thematic areas implemented in 2021, as well as on their planned projects and activities. It was concluded with a list of recommendations and a matrix of joint projects and activities to be organised in collaboration with the members of TISC in 2022 and beyond.
